Join us at The Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience as we showcase our Wildlife Ambassadors and share our conservation mission with the community! Qualified Wildlife Ambassador Animal Care volunteers are needed to support staff, handle the animals, and engage with community members at the event booth.
Impact
Through meaningful interactions with guests, as a Wildlife Ambassador, you'll help create memorable experiences while fostering a deeper understanding of wildlife and the habitats we all depend on. Whether it's answering questions, sharing a fun fact, or helping someone experience an animal up close, your involvement can leave a lasting impact.
Tasks
- Meet the staff at the designated area prior to the program to help set up the booth. At end of the program, assist with clean-up of wildlife ambassador space and packaging of the wildlife ambassadors.
- Welcome guests, introduce yourself and the wildlife ambassadors.
- Handling animals.
- Share program talking points and answer common questions with information from the Wildlife Ambassador Manual providing excellent customer service to the public.
- Support staff or lead designated activities during the program.
- Follow all safety procedures and ensures the safety of all participants. Alert staff when and if any issues arise.
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to long-term volunteers, ages 13 and up who have qualified as Wildlife Ambassadors in Animal Care.

- Parking & Meeting Instructions: Parking is available for volunteers off Springfield Street. Volunteers should check in at the Volunteer Central in the Bluegrass Shelter located directly across the footbridge by the lagoon. Click here to view a map of Eastwood MetroPark.
- Cancelation: If you need to cancel a shift last minute or are running late, please contact your Staff Lead at the provided number.
- Environment & Physical Demands: Volunteers can expect bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting objects 10 lbs. or more, and standing for long periods.
- If you would like to request a service accommodation in order to volunteer at this opportunity, please contact Volunteer Services at least 1 week before the scheduled opportunity.
- Dress: Please wear your volunteer name badge and volunteer apparel. Reusable volunteer vests and nametags will be provided for you at volunteer check in onsite.
