Are you interested in local history? Help document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks to our region by conducting independent research and collecting historical information about our parks. We are creating detailed timelines of our park histories to learn what stories to tell and how best to preserve our historical places. This volunteer opportunity can be done independently, with regular check-ins with FRMP staff.

This research helps us document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks and adds richness to how we can interpret the parks to the public.
Tasks
- Assists staff with collecting and organizing all forms of records and data comprehensively with the goal of preservation and or interpretation at a later time.
- Research may require in-person visits to facilities that house information, such as Wright State University Archives or local libraries.
- Utilizes modern tools such as computer-based software programs to research and document information.
- Catalog information into searchable forms within the database.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.

Additional Information
- New research volunteers will interview with staff to determine which area of research will be a good fit.
- A complete orientation to the specific task will occur before the volunteer begins.
- The volunteer is expected to spend approximately 4-5 hours a month or more on their assignment to keep the project moving forward.
- Periodic check-ins and opportunities to ask questions will be provided by the staff lead.
