Do you want to participate in an event celebrating cycling in the Miami Valley? The Miami Valley boasts the nation’s largest paved trail network with more than 340 miles to explore and enjoy. Dayton is also a League of American Bicyclists bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community. Setup volunteers will assist MetroParks staff in setting up the day before the event.
Impact
Volunteers help to promote an active, healthy lifestyle in the region, contribute to the awareness of an environmentally friendly and healthy form of transportation, and help make this event available to all who might be interested in learning more about an active way to experience the outdoors and connect with nature locally. Volunteers allow MetroParks to continue its mission to protect the region's natural heritage and provide outdoor experiences that inspire a personal connection with nature.
Tasks
- Assist staff in general event set-up including sign placement, booth and table set-up, hanging banners, etc.
- Assist in moving tables, chairs, and pop-up tents.

- This opportunity is open to the following volunteers: Long-Term, Short-Term, Public, and Youth. Learn more about our types of service here.
- Background Check: We do not require a background check for our public volunteer opportunities; however, persons with a criminal record may be disqualified and prohibited from service. Please review our background check policy here. For those required to complete Court Appointed Community Service, please click here.
- Youth Volunteers: Youth volunteers ages 14-17 are not required to complete a background check. If you are a new youth volunteer contact volunteer.services@metroparks.org to have your background check waived.

Parking & Meeting Instructions: Volunteers should park in visitor parking at Five Rivers MetroParks headquarters, 409 E. Monument Ave, Dayton, OH 45402.

- Cancellation: If you need to cancel a shift at the last minute or are running late, please call staff lead, Shelby Shaw, at 937-274-3117.
- Environment & Physical Demands: Physical duties include standing, walking, lifting, and reaching to help set up and tear down tables, signs, and banners.
- Dress: Please wear your volunteer name badge and if you have one, your green or blue volunteer T-shirt, and wear closed-toe shoes.
