Can you drive with your hands on the wheel, be friendly AND enjoy yourself in the great outdoors? Then we need you at The Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience! TRAM Shuttle Driver volunteers enable the event to be more accessible and enjoyable for all individuals. Volunteers provide excellent customer service while safely transporting visitors to and from pick up zones ensuring that everyone finds a place at MetroParks. 

Impact

Special Event volunteers play a critical role in ensuring that each special event or large-scale program runs smoothly, from setup to teardown. By providing physical assistance as shuttle drivers, volunteers allow visitors to be able to enjoy the event by offering rides to and from the parking area and the event footprint. 

Tasks

• Welcome visitors to the Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience.
• Drive visitors safely in the TRAM to and from the pick-up zones.
• Be familiar with facts and key features of the event to share with passengers on the way to the event drop-off location.
• Answer questions about the event & Five Rivers MetroParks to the best of your ability. Contact the staff with any questions you are unable to confidently answer.
• Keep a supply of event brochures available to distribute to visitors and refer to when referencing points of interest.
• Smile, and share your enthusiasm for the event and your Five Rivers MetroParks! You are the first face of the event for thousands of visitors!
• Train your volunteer replacement and pass along tips and tricks learned during your shift 

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to individual, public, long-term, or short term volunteers, ages 21 and up and who have qualified in Vehicle Driving-Volunteer Training.  Simply click the blue RESPOND button to sign up or click here to learn more about becoming a volunteer.

• GET STARTED: This opportunity requires Volunteer Onboarding (Profile, Volunteer Handbook Signature, and for those 18 and up an eligible background check), plus Vehicle Driving- Volunteer training. Simply click the blue RESPOND button to begin completing the required qualifications.
  

Additional Notes

• Parking and Meeting Instructions: Parking is available for volunteers off Springfield Street. Volunteers should check in at Volunteer Central in the Bluegrass Shelter located directly across the footbridge by the lagoon. Please arrive 15 minutes early to park, check in, and get to your volunteer location.

• Cancellation: If you need to cancel a shift last minute or are running late, please contact the staff lead, Chris Buck, at 937-567-4405.
• Environment and Physical Demands: Physical duties will include standing, walking and light lifting, talking with the public and responding to their interactions. As this program takes place outdoors, please be aware of outdoor exposure risks (i.e., sun, poison ivy, insects, etc.). including seasonal allergens (i.e., grass, pollen, bees, etc.). Volunteers should bring their favorite reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray. Volunteers for this opportunity will need to be trained and qualified on our TRAMs and have the TRAM checkoff completed.
• Dress: Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Reusable volunteer vests and event nametags will be provided for you onsite at volunteer check-in.
• Special Note: At end of your shift, please train your volunteer replacement. If there is not a replacement, please make contact with a MetroParks staff member or Volunteer Services. While there will be alcoholic drinks available at this event, volunteers should abstain until after they have completed their volunteer service. Also, even though this is a dog-friendly event, volunteers are asked to enjoy the event with their furry friends after they have completed volunteering.
