If you love the outdoors and want to help keep trails in good condition, join us for trail maintenance at Sugarcreek MetroPark! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help keep our trails in tip-top shape for all visitors to enjoy. No experience necessary, just a willingness to get your hands a little dirty and a love for the great outdoors. Plus, you'll get to meet some like-minded folks and maybe even spot some wildlife along the way.
Impact
Park Maintenance volunteers help to manage and sustain 18 beautiful parks, 11 conservation areas, and 160 miles of hike, bike, mountain bike, and horseback-riding trails for park visitors to safely enjoy. Volunteers that support Trail Maintenance help MetroParks provide safe, consistent and high-quality trail experiences for visitors with varied interests and abilities in a manner that protects and sustains the natural resources and habitats at each park.
Tasks
Under the supervision of the assigned staff, support and assist with the following:

maintaining the horse trails at Sugarcreek MetroPark. Activities will primarily include corridor clearing, invasive species control, drainage clearing, de-berming trail edges, and trail observation.

- This opportunity is for ages 18 and older.
- Environment & Physical Demands: This project takes place outdoors - Please be aware of outdoor exposure risks (i.e. sun, poison ivy, insects, etc.). Volunteers should be aware of seasonal allergies (i.e., grass, pollen, bees, etc.), and can expect to participate in routine bending, kneeling, reaching, dragging and lifting objects of 15lbs. Volunteers will be walking along possibly uneven and muddy trails for the duration of the shift. Volunteers will work with and carry hand tools along with any personal items needed.
