Join us for this year's Textile Day at Carriage Hill MetroPark's Historic Farm!
There were many different types of fibers utilized in the 1880s. The process of producing textiles was both diverse and efficient. Join us at the historic farm for a day dedicated to historic textiles on Saturday, May 3rd from 10 am-4 pm. Watch as volunteers and staff demonstrate textile machinery used to create fabric and clothing in the 19th century. Learn about natural dyes. Explore the process of turning raw wool into finished fiber.
Volunteers are needed to support this program by serving as Historic Interpreters, Blacksmith and Woodshop Demonstrators, and Program Support, Volunteers will share historic information with visitors, demonstrate historic textiles, assist with activities, and more.
