PASSPORT TO KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION

MetroParks is the host site for the End of Year Celebration of Passport to Kindergarten. Passport to Kindergarten is offered through PreSchool Promise and sponsored by PNC, with MetroParks as one of the partner agencies. This is an ongoing community partnership and an initiative that focuses on kindergarten readiness, ensuring that all children in the Miami Valley have the opportunity to start kindergarten at the same level of preparedness, especially with literacy and language development. The Passport to Kindergarten End of Year Celebration recognizes the children and families who have participated in this kindergarten readiness program for the past year! Our volunteers allow us to engage the teachers and families in fun, nature-based activities throughout the park
The focus of the End of Year Celebration is on nature exploration in the park, and our activities get inspiration from the book " Are Trees Alive" by Debbie S. Smith. The entire event will be focused on hands-on nature exploration and trees, and families will be encouraged to visit all our stations, meet our animal ambassadors, and enjoy the evening in their park.
The children’s garden is full of different habitats, and outside the fence, there are trees everywhere. Through the activities the families will make lots of discoveries in nature and learn about the value of trees to us and the habitats.
Impact
Volunteers help build access, comfort, convenience, and safety into our programs for all interested in learning. They enable more individualized support for first-time learners and create a better skill-building environment. Volunteers help people make a stronger connection to nature by making it easy to experience the outdoors in fun activities.
