Garden Guide Seasonal Training
Learning from the Landscape - Cox Arboretum

Learning from the Landscape is being offered as additional seasonal training for volunteers interested in supporting Horticulture Education and Garden Tours.
Garden Guides bring the gardens and landscape alive for visitors. This session will be a walk and talk, much like the garden tours themselves. The starting point for all guides is knowing the featured areas of the park and discovering seasonally which areas will have more in bloom, We will talk about various plants, why they are good additions to the garden, and conditions they like to grow. The other aspect of learning from the landscape is sharing basic horticulture information, Healthy Soil, the Right Plant Right Place, basic pruning, care and maintenance of plants, and why some plants may not be good in the home landscape, and invasive species. Volunteers are not expected to learn everything at once and will be paired with a more experienced guide. The guide can come to multiple seasonal training because each time you gain more knowledge.
This will be offered seasonally to learn about the different plants, and important issues each season.
