This opportunity is reserved for youth and families in the Conservation Leaders program.

Conservation Leaders have been invited to visit Cedar Bog Preserve. Cedar Bog is a unique habitat type with lots of biodiversity. During the visit, the preserve manager will be leading us through parts of the preserve sharing not only information about what we see but also the conservation efforts that have and are currently taking place at the preserve. Additionally, the preserve manager has agreed to share her unique career path This opportunity will allow Conservation Leaders to gain field-based experiences and a deeper understanding of a new habitat. This will enrich their knowledge and grow their skills, ultimately making them more well-rounded and knowledgeable volunteers.
DO YOU QUALIFY? This training is reserved for long-term volunteers who are approved in the Conservation Leaders volunteer program.
Additional Notes:
- Environment & Physical Demands: This project takes place outdoors - Please be aware of outdoor exposure risks (i.e. sun, poison ivy, insects, etc.). Volunteers should be aware of seasonal allergies (i.e., grass, pollen, bees, etc.), and can expect to participate in routinely bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting objects of 15lbs or more, etc.
- Parking & Meeting Instructions: Please meet at the Five Rivers MetroParks Main Office (409 E. Monument Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45402) where a staff person will have our MetroParks van ready for transport.
- Volunteers need to be able to be able to be at the Five Rivers MetroParks at 9:30 am to arrive at Cedar Bog at 10:30 am.
- Please display your Volunteer Parking Pass in your vehicle. If you do not have a Volunteer Parking Pass, please CLICK HERE to download and print the PARKING PASS for parking at 409 E. Monument Ave.
- Dress: Volunteers should dress for the weather, wear hiking shoes, and bring a packed lunch with a prefilled water bottle.
- Notes: This training is weather dependent. More information regarding meeting times will shared by the staff lead 24-48 hours before the scheduled training date, so please be actively checking your email for updates during this timeframe.
