"I want to complete an Eagle Scout Project or Gold Award Project for Five Rivers MetroParks"
Thank you for your interest in supporting Five Rivers MetroParks! It is our mission at the Five Rivers MetroParks to protect the region’s natural heritage and provide outdoor experiences that inspire a personal connection to nature. We couldn’t get nearly as much accomplished as we do without the support from driven community members, like yourself!
There are many opportunities for Scouts to earn the rank of Eagle Scout or achieve the Girl Scouts Gold Award in your MetroParks. Scouts can identify a variety of activities, including trail improvement projects, building projects, and habitat enhancement projects, and a Volunteer Coordinator will make every effort to match a Scout with their requested project.
A Scout that donates their time, skills, and talents through the means of a Scout Service Project is identified as Short Term volunteers with Five Rivers MetroParks. Short-term volunteers provide service to our parks, typically for a set period of time, to complete a specific assignment. These individuals volunteer for a variety of reasons including earning school credit, satisfying a program requirement, or completing a service project. Short-term volunteers are required to complete the online volunteer onboarding process and must adhere to our Volunteer Handbook.
HOW GET CONNECTED WORKS
This user group is a private group for Scout Service Project volunteers and contains private volunteer opportunities only open to approved volunteers. You will find these private opportunities listed at the bottom of this User Group page. You can access this page conveniently via the shared link or by logging into your Get Connected account and clicking My User Groups from the menu:

From your User Groups page, you can click "View Opportunities" to take you back to this page where you can view all of the opportunities available specific to approved scouts completing a service project for Five Rivers MetroParks. Available opportunities will display once you have successfully joined this group.
Once you've found the one you would like to support, you can click the blue RESPOND button. If any additional qualifications are required, you will be prompted to complete those at that time. Qualifications may include:
- Submitting your Emergency Contact Information.
- Completing your Volunteer Profile on Get Connected.

You can learn more about volunteer onboarding qualifications and volunteering with us on our Become a Volunteer page.
Once you've responded to an opportunity with a scheduled shift*, Get Connected will send you an email confirmation, an email reminder, and on the morning of your scheduled shift, an email asking you to check-in. You can check in to your shift directly via that email or download our Cause Connect App and check in via the App. Download Cause Connect from the App Store or Google Play for FREE.
*Note: The Scout Service Project opportunity is an unscheduled "Ongoing" opportunity meaning you can volunteer in this capacity any time. As this is unscheduled and ongoing, you will not be signing up for shifts in Get Connected. Nor will you receive check in email reminders.
Instead, you will respond to the ongoing Scout Service Project Hour Reporting opportunity once and then you can "Add Hours" to this opportunity each time you serve this year. You can also check in to this opportunity throughout the year.
When you add hours for this opportunity, please select the User Group "Scout Service Project" so that your volunteer hours are attributed to this group.
