Historic Blacksmith - Volunteer Training

Thank you for your interest in supporting the historic farm as a Historic Blacksmith. TThe Daniel Arnold Historic Farm is located within Carriage Hill MetroPark and offers a captivating glimpse into the past, attracting visitors every year. This unique destination provides more than just an overview of history; it presents an engaging and immersive journey back to the 19th century, where visitors can uncover the rich stories of the Arnold family and the vibrant life of farming during that era.
A main attractions for visitors is the blacksmith shop, which served as an essential hub for crafting and repairing the tools that kept the farm running smoothly. The pride in craftsmanship comes to life as volunteers demonstrate techniques and assist with projects on the current farm.
We invite you to join our passionate volunteers, many of whom bring their own experience in metalwork and small tools. Training will prepare you to share skills and stories, ensuring that every visit to the farm is not just a look back in time but an interactive experience for all. Come and be inspired by the legacy of hard work, creativity, and community at Carriage Hill MetroPark! Historic Blacksmith volunteers will be required to complete an annual check-off of safe demonstration of blacksmith skills.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? This opportunity is open to individual long-term volunteers ages 18 and up, who have completed their volunteer onboarding qualifications (Volunteer Handbook Signature, Completed Volunteer Profile) and an eligible background check.
