Bluebird Monitoring - Volunteer Training

Thank you for your interest in supporting our Bluebird Monitoring volunteer opportunities. Monitoring eastern bluebird nest boxes help us track local population trends, understand how bluebird populations are reacting to environmental changes, increases the number of bluebird nesting sites, and it provides us with a great activity to connect with our parks and learn more about wildlife.

Volunteers are needed to check bluebird nestboxes throughout the bird nesting season (March – August) and complete a data form of what you observe. This involves removing nesting material of old boxes, basic bird ID, and attention to details. A volunteer or volunteer team can sign up for a month to monitor the boxes 2-6 times during the month they register to support. This is an independent volunteer opportunity

DO YOU QUALIFY? This opportunity is reserved for long-term volunteers who have completed their onboarding qualifications and have received an eligible background check (for volunteers 18 and older). Learn more about our volunteer orientation and onboarding here. This opportunity can be great for families, with youth ages 10 and up!
