Tactile Nature Interpretation - Volunteer Training
Thank you for your interest in supporting our Tactile Nature Interpretation volunteer opportunities. Using wildlife furs and bones during outreach opportunities will allow you to inspire the community to connect with nature. With these items, you will help the public understand the need to protect wildlife habitats and promote sustainability.
The animals represented in the outreach bin showcase the many different animals that you can find not only in our parks, but all over Ohio. A personal connection with nature will allow community members to feel empowered to protect the needs and sustainability of wildlife.
Volunteers are needed to display the touchable items and educate the community about habitats, diet, needs, etc. of the animals. In most cases, this will involve checking out and picking up the tub of materials and going to public engagements. There will be a table, often underneath a canopy, booth-style, with staff. The opportunity may arise in which volunteers are able to take the fur tub to an event, and set-up independently. If this is the case, specific directions will be provided on how and where to pick up the tub.
DO YOU QUALIFY? This opportunity is reserved for long-term volunteers who have completed their onboarding qualifications and have received an eligible background check (for volunteers 18 and older), and approved family volunteers. Learn more about our volunteer orientation and onboarding here.
