Do you love spending your weekend in the vibrant, bubbling atmosphere of 2nd Street Market, where you always end up running into a familiar face? Volunteers will be stationed near the entrance and will enhance the visitor experience by greeting and welcoming visitors. Volunteers will also conduct sales of MetroParks merchandise, process EBT sales, provide wayfinding assistance, and promote the MetroParks by passing out literature.

Impact

Volunteers enhance the visitor experience and help curate the Market’s unique, vibrant culture for our customers who then support our vendors in providing sustainable local food to the community.

Volunteer: Bike To Work Day: Poster Distribution

Looking for a flexible opportunity you can support on your own time? Help us promote this year's Bike to Workday Pancake Breakfast! Poster distribution volunteers assist MetroParks in getting the word out about Bike to Work Day by visiting area businesses to hang and distribute event posters and palm cards before the event. 

Impact

Volunteers will be a part of the event team celebrating the positive impacts human-powered transportation can have on the body, the community, and the wellbeing of the planet. Your support makes events like this possible!

Tasks

Volunteers will be given a list of places to visit within a defined geographical area of Dayton to distribute posters and palm cards (if available).

Three distribution routes are offered on a first come, first serve basis. When distributing posters and palm cards, volunteers should introduce themselves as a volunteer with Five Rivers MetroParks and ask for permission to hang posters using tape or pushpins provided.Share information about the Bike to Work Day event, initiate conversations encouraging people to attend, and share your enthusiasm about the event and our MetroParks with others.Volunteers should take notes on which places they visited and which were willing to display a poster and/or distribute palm cards and report back to staff.Volunteers can deliver as their schedule allows but many businesses will be open during weekday business hours. Some may have evening or weekend hours. Volunteers must be able to make deliveries before May 1st, 2026.  Distribution can take place on the volunteer's schedule- no set days or times, as long as deliveries are made before May 1st

Volunteers unable to complete deliveries must contact the staff lead right away so that alternative delivery arrangements can be made.

Volunteers need to be able to pick up all supplies and instructions at the Five Rivers MetroParks Main Office, located at 409 E Monument Ave, Third Floor. The pickup window is Monday- Friday from 8 am-5 pm between 3/30/26 and 4/24/26. Posters should be distributed no later than 5/1/26.Volunteers should click "ADD HOURS" in Get Connected to add their service hours to this opportunity.

Parking & Meeting Instructions: Volunteers should park at Five Rivers MetroParks headquarters, 409 E. Monument Ave, Dayton, OH 45402. Volunteers will need to prominently display their Volunteer Parking Hang tag or a MetroParks Parking Pass. CLICK HERE TO PRINT YOUR VOLUNTEER PARKING PASS. Then, walk to RiverScape MetroPark and check in with the Volunteer Services team located next to the rentals office.  Cancellation: While cancelling a shift is discouraged, if you need to cancel a shift last minute or are running late, please notify staff lead Sheena Johnson and/or your Volunteer Services team at volunteer.services@metroparks.org. Environment & Physical Demands: ​​​Physical duties include standing for long periods, bending, lifting and reaching.If you would like to request a service accommodation in order to volunteer at this opportunity, please contact Volunteer Services at least 1 week before the scheduled opportunity. Dress: Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. Volunteers are encouraged to wear their blue or green volunteer apparel. Join Five Rivers MetroParks as we welcome cycling enthusiasts for tasty pancakes, friends, and music at the region's largest celebration of cycling as a means of transportation in the Miami Valley!

Help us promote everything MetroParks at this year's Bike to Work Day Pancake Breakfast at RiverScape MetroPark! We need people who love our parks, programs, and events and want to share that love with others. If that's you, consider joining us as a MetroParks Booth Ambassador! MetroParks Booth Ambassadors assist the Marketing team and outreach staff to distribute information about Five Rivers MetroParks and giveaways.
