It's almost time for the exciting Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience! And we need your help to spread the word. Poster Distribution volunteers will share the excitement about this once a year occurrence by delivering promotional materials to area businesses. Deliver posters and palm cards in the weeks leading up the event to help the community become aware of the wide range of opportunities available for free to the public!
Impact
Special Event volunteers are critical in ensuring that each special event or large-scale program runs smoothly from set-up to tear-down. Volunteers help make this event known to all who might be interested in learning about ways to experience the outdoors and connect with nature.
Tasks
- Volunteers will be given a list of places to visit in and around Downtown Dayton and areas West of Dayton to distribute posters.
- Pick up all supplies and instructions at the Main Office, 409 E Monument Ave, Third Floor, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Use your own form of transportation to visit the designated places.
- Enter the businesses and introduce yourself as a volunteer with the Five Rivers MetroParks.
- Ask permission to hang posters using tape or pushpins provided or if the show owner would prefer to display them themselves
- Record information on provided spread sheet to note which places were visited, accepted materials, quantity dispersed, etc.
- Optional but encouraged- find additional places to visit that are not on the list. Look for places connected to recreation, close to bikeways, or places where people hang out: restaurants, coffee shops, gear shops, etc.
- Volunteers must be able to make deliveries before September 22th. Distribution can occur on the volunteer's schedule--no set days or times, as long as deliveries are made before September 22th.
- Volunteers unable to complete deliveries must contact the staff lead right away so that alternative delivery arrangements can be made.
- 10 AM - 5 PM would be the best time to deliver most items, or on weekends - depending on the businesses' open hour
