Program Assistant volunteers enhance the market experience by helping staff offer interactive activities for youth and families based on seasonal themes. See the schedule below for details:
- Thursday, August 10: National Farmer's Market Week
Task: Offer samples of different varieties of melon for tasting. - Sunday, October 15: Apple Day at the Market
Task: Offer samples of different varieties of apples for tasting. - Saturday, October 28: Halloween Fun
Task: Assist with children's pumpkin decorating. - Sunday, December 17: Breakfast with Santa
Task: Assist with serving breakfast and children’s activities.
Impact
Programs at the Market inspire further exploration of our natural and cultural world and encourage community engagement and healthy lifestyles.
Tasks may include:
- Welcome and interact with participants, typically youth and families
- Assist with check-in procedures
- Assist staff in set-up and clean-up of program materials and equipment
- Provide excellent customer service to the public when approached with questions
- Support staff or lead designated activities during the program
Additional Notes
- This opportunity is for ages 14 and older. Volunteers ages 14-17 must first be approved by a Volunteer Coordinator to Respond to this opportunity. Contact volunteer.services@metroparks.org to request approval.

- The market may be cool in the winter and warm in the summer. Please dress accordingly.
