Do you love spending your Saturdays in the vibrant, bubbling atmosphere of 2nd Street Market, where you always end up running into a familiar face? We are looking for outgoing individuals who will actively engage with visitors by roving throughout the Market greeting, welcoming, and interacting with people. Volunteers will provide wayfinding assistance and promote the MetroParks by passing out literature, as well as acting as a second set of eyes and ears for emergency situations.
Impact
Volunteers enhance the visitor experience and help curate the Market’s unique, vibrant culture for our customers who then support our vendors in providing sustainable local food to the community.
Tasks
- Welcome customers as they arrive and thank them as they leave
- Assist with wayfinding and answer basic questions about the parks
- Distribute literature appropriate to the conversation
- May be asked to assist vendors by watching a booth for brief periods of time
- Keep an eye out for situations that may require staff attention, such as accidents, spills, medical emergencies, or disruptive behavior
- Use a two-way walkie-talkie to stay in communication with staff

- This opportunity is for ages 16 and older. Volunteers ages 16-17 must first be approved by a Volunteer Coordinator to Respond to this opportunity. Contact volunteer.services@metroparks.org to request approval.
