Thank You for Another Successful Adopt-A-Park!
Join Miami Valley residents in Five Rivers MetroParks' annual Earth Day celebration by volunteering in our parks and other areas across Montgomery County! Volunteers of all ages, accessibility levels, and backgrounds will tackle dozens of projects at different natural areas. Projects will include invasive species removal, habitat maintenance, gardening activities, mulching nature play areas, historical farm clean-up, and more. These projects will improve the environment and beautify the regional natural areas. View available projects and sign up to get outside and give back beginning March 1st.

On Saturday, April 26th, from 9 AM to noon, 233 community members of all ages served at various sites throughout Five Rivers MetroParks to help us clean up our parks, support habitat restoration efforts, and prepare for the winter season.
Volunteers supported projects at the following MetroParks locations: Aullwood Garden, Carriage Hill, Cox Arboretum, Eastwood, Englewood, Hills and Dales, Huffman-MoMBA, Island, Medlar Conservation Area, Possum Creek, RiverScape, Sugarcreek, Taylorsville, Twin Creek, Wegerzyn Gardens, and Wesleyan MetroParks.
Service Snapshot:
- 1,222 lbs of landfill litter and
debris were collected.
- 212 lbs of recycling litter & debris were collected.
- 2.65 miles of rivers and lakes were cleaned.
- 4.9 miles of hiking, biking, and/or equestrian trail corridors were cleared.
- 5.83 acres of invasive plants were removed.
- 8 play/recreational areas were cleaned and maintained.
- 6 odd items removed from the parks.
- 25 trees and/or shrubs were planted.
- 18 flowers and/or bulbs were planted.
"Volunteers were able to complete the installation of the new raised beds, move plants that we wanted to keep out of the paths they were popping up in, and fix a wall that was damaged after a water line broke and caused the ground to get soft/the wall to lean. These efforts allow us a space to grow plants that support our programming for the upcoming season and improve the functionality of the space.” - Kaitlyn Lowry, Education Coordinator
