The Aullwood Winter Luminary Walk is just around the corner - and we need your help to get the house and gardens looking their festive best! We're seeking volunteers to assist with outdoor cleanup and garden prep around the historic Aull House. Your efforts will help create a beautiful, welcoming setting for this cherished seasonal event.

The Sky may be bright, but you are the Guide, helped by the light of the Stars! As we get ready for another enchanting Aullwood Winter Luminary Walk, we are seeking volunteers to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests. One important role this year is guiding visitors to the designated stargazing area. Volunteers will assist with setting up the equipment, greeting guests, and helping them enjoy an evening under the stars. Be the first smile guests see - Volunteer at the Trailhead! A warm welcome sets the tone for a magical evening and we'd love your help greeting guests at this year's Aullwood Winter Luminary Walk! We're looking for volunteers to stand at the trailhead leading from the parking lot into Aullwood Garden. You'll be the first friendly face visitors see as they arrive, helping them start their journey on the right path.

Encourage guests to wait to walk the path until the start of the event at 4:00pm so they can enjoy the lighted luminaries on their walk. Help keep the path flowing and help capture all the magical memories at this year's Aullwood Winter Luminary Walk! As we prepare for another magical Aullwood Winter Luminary Walk, we're counting on volunteers to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests. One key role this year is guiding visitors to the designated photo station which will be set up beside the pathway and helping to capture their memories by assisting with taking photos. This helps prevent traffic jams and keeps the flow of foot traffic moving along the lit trail while providing them with a memento of the evening they will be able to share and cherish.

Volunteers like YOU are an essential part of MetroParks' programs and events. Special Event volunteers ensure that events and large-scale programs run smoothly and safely. Your participation helps make events like this one possible.

Tasks Collecting and packing away milk jug luminaries. Removing used candles and placing them in 5-gallon buckets. Cleaning up the fire rings.Tidying up the grounds and walkways. EligibilityThis opportunity is open to the following volunteers: Long-Term, Short-Term, Public Service, Youth (ages 14-17- See specific age requirements below), and/or Groups.  Learn more about our types of service here.
Background Check: We do not require a background check for our public volunteer opportunities; however, persons with a criminal record may be disqualified and prohibited from service. Please review our background check policy here. For those required to complete Court Appointed Community Service, please click here. Additional Notes  Parking and Meeting Instructions: Park in the lot at 930 Aullwood Road, and check in with your staff lead at the Aull House garage.  Arrive 10 minutes before your shift to receive instructions.Cancelation:  If you need to cancel a shift last minute or are running late, please call the staff lead, Beth Langford, at 937-718-5658.Environment and Physical Demands: Volunteers should expect to do a lot of walking as well as carrying heavy items such as full 5-gallon buckets and milk jugs. Twisting, bending, and kneeling may be required. Dress: Please wear your blue or green volunteer t-shirt, if you have one. A reusable volunteer safety vest and name badge will be provided at check-in.
