Volunteer: Outdoor Experience Surveys and Waivers Data Entry Project 2025

Put your computer skills to work - volunteer for a short-term data entry project! Are you detail-oriented and comfortable working indoors with computers? We're looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with a short-term data entry project supporting Five Rivers MetroParks! Help us enter data from waivers collected during The Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience and make a meaningful impact behind the scenes. 

Impact

Volunteers provide quality administrative support to MetroParks staff, which enhances the efficiency of our operations and allows staff to dedicate more time to drive our mission forward.

Tasks Enter data from source documents into a prescribed computer database, files, or forms. Assist with records management, organization, and filing.Ensure accuracy and confidentiality while supporting administrative operations. Eligibility This opportunity is open to the following volunteers: Short-term and Long-Term. Off-street parking is plentiful and free with a MetroParks Volunteer Hangtag.  Please contact volunteer.services@metroparks.org if you need one.  Cancellation: If you need to cancel a shift at the last minute or are running late, please call the staff lead, Shelby Shaw, at 435-890-2003.Environment & Physical Demands: ​​The opportunity takes place in an indoor office setting and requires sitting, typing, and viewing a computer screen. Are you interested in local history? Help document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks to our region by conducting independent research and collecting historical information about our parks. We are creating detailed timelines of our park histories to learn what stories to tell and how best to preserve our historical places. This volunteer opportunity can be done independently, with regular check-ins with FRMP staff.

Impact

This research helps us document the historical significance of Five Rivers MetroParks and adds richness to how we can interpret the parks to the public.  

Tasks Assists staff with collecting and organizing all forms of records and data comprehensively with the goal of preservation and or interpretation at a later time. Research may require in-person visits to facilities that house information, such as Wright State University Archives or local libraries. Utilizes modern tools such as computer-based software programs to research and document information. Catalog information into searchable forms within the database.Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.  EligibilityThis opportunity is open to the following volunteers: Long-Term and Short-Term.  Learn more about our types of service here.Additional Information New research volunteers will interview with staff to determine which area of research will be a good fit. A complete orientation to the specific task will occur before the volunteer begins.  The volunteer is expected to spend approximately 4-5 hours a month or more on their assignment to keep the project moving forward.
