TRAM Driver Training and Check Off

TRAM Driver Check Off

Long-term MetroParks volunteers who would like to participate in making Cox Arboretum more accessible to individuals, families, and groups, enjoy nature and gardens, and are passionate about MetroParks should consider being a TRAM driver volunteer.  TRAM drivers are part of our programming support team and help create an experience not just a ride.  TRAMs are extended golf cars that can carry 7 people and the driver.  Tours are not on a regular schedule but arranged on a needed basis.  TRAM drivers may also be requested to support events like the Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience, or foundation events,  to create a more accessible event experience.  To be a TRAM driver, there is virtual training required and an in-person check-off.  The training and annual checkoff is an annual requirement.

The TRAM check-off will include driving skills, understanding the seasonal routes, and basic checks that need to be done before starting the vehicle. Practice runs will be available before you officially do the Check-Off.  We understand practice builds confidence, and once volunteers have gone through the training and checkoff, additional practice runs are able to be scheduled.  All volunteers will be expected to successfully pass both a written test and a road test in order to use these vehicles as part of their volunteer duties.
