Join a dynamic team of volunteers and play a meaningful role in creating unforgettable outdoor learning experiences for local students as we wrap up our Fall
School Field Trip training series! This training session is your opportunity to become familiar with this park and our engaging Animals of Ohio field trip. Along the way, you'll meet our wildlife ambassadors, hike the Red Trail, practice pond dipping, search for insects at the Monarch Way Station, and explore the fascinating world of fossils while learning proper identification techniques.
You'll also discover helpful tips, tools, and field-tested strategies that will build your confidence and prepare you to guide students through a fun, hands-on day of exploration. Whether you're returning for another season or continuing your volunteer training, this session will equip you with the knowledge and experience to help spark curiosity, foster a love of nature, and create memorable moments for the next generation of MetroParks explorers. Come learn, connect, and be inspired!
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? This opportunity is open to individual long-term volunteers, ages 18 and up, who have completed their volunteer onboarding qualifications (Volunteer Handbook Signature, Completed Volunteer Profile), and for those 18 and up, an eligible background check. WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT YOU'LL REVIEW
As a School Field Trip volunteer, you'll receive specialized training to prepare you for each program and gain valuable insight into the activities planned for students. This session is an immersive experience at Germantown MetroPark, building your own knowledge of the natural world while focusing on our Animals of Ohio field trip and nature engagement skills.
Skill Building Session at Germantown MetroPark (approximately 2 hours):
- Dress for the weather and be prepared to hike the red trail.
- This session will be hands on with practice pond dipping and identifying what you find.
- Volunteers will discover what insects could be found at the Monarch Way Station.
***If you're new to our School Program Field Trips, we encourage you to attend our orientation session on August 4 first. This is a fantastic opportunity to establish a strong foundation for the upcoming season and see if this rewarding volunteer opportunity aligns with your interests
