Volunteers play an important role in achieving MetroParks’ mission to protect the region’s natural heritage and provide outdoor experiences that inspire a personal connection with nature. Garden Tour Guides connect visitors to the diverse plant landscapes and play a cr
ucial role in educating them about these plants. These seasonal plant knowledge sessions are designed to enhance your knowledge and comfort about what is blooming on the tour route. They will be offered monthly, and volunteers are encourage to register for as many as they are available to attend. The gardens change, and this is a great way to see what is blooming. You do not need to be a horticulturist to be a great garden guide! Excitement about the park, the plants, and a willingness to share your enthusiasm are the qualities that make you a great Garden Guide volunteer.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? This opportunity is open to individual, long-term volunteers, ages 18 and up who have qualified as a Garden Guide Volunteer. New to MetroParks volunteering? Click here to learn more about how to become a volunteer!
WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT YOU'LL REVIEW
This will be outdoors and allow you to ask questions and share knowledge and experience with the group. Garden Guides will continue to learn about the gardens, plants, some history of the site, and the unique features of the park. We will use the TRAMs to allow for guides to get some practice in as we travel through the Arboretum. You can review the garden guide information from the Training Page: Garden Tour Guide online training
