Join us for a morning of learning, discovery, and connections during our field trip to Gallagher Fen State Nature Preserve. Continue to learn and grow as a Conservation Leader as Education Coordinator, Doug Horvath leads the Conservation Leaders in exploring this unique site in Ohio. This special event is exclusively for families and youth who are already part of the Conservation Leaders program! ALL RSVPS ARE DUE BY MAY 28!
Gallagher Fen State Nature Preserve is one of the best examples of a groundwater-fed prairie fen community in the state, a biodiversity hotspot, protecting over 26 state-listed species. It has a unique geological history as it is an ice-age relic ecosystem sitting on layers of stratified glacial deposits. Conservation leaders will exploring the site and learn about this unique habitat and geological history. This opportunity will allow Conservation Leaders to gain field-based experiences and a deeper understanding of a new habitat, as well as explore new species of plants and animals. This will enrich their knowledge and grow their skills, ultimately making them more well-rounded and knowledgeable volunteers.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? This opportunity is open to long-term family volunteers who have completed the requirements for Conservation Leaders. Volunteers who have completed their volunteer onboarding qualifications (Volunteer Handbook Signature, Completed Volunteer Profile), and for those 18 and up, an eligible background check.
